“Our Vision is to build a thriving and sustainable economy for the benefit of the Fylde Coast Community. This will be based on clean, sustainable energy powering new AI Data Centres, using new nuclear SMR technologies,  creating long term, highly skilled employment opportunities.”

Steve Wood | Founder of Fylde Coast Energy

Building a Sustainable Future

The whole point of the scheme is to build a sustainable clean Community Energy Company that partners with the local community and delivers a better standard of living, securing a prosperous future for the generations to come.

This cannot be achieved without strong local partnerships so that local knowledge and expertise are woven into the fiber of the company.

Opportunities for Our Community

We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a say in what kind of future we want for our community, children, and grandchildren.  The clean New Nuclear SMR technology can provide enough energy to power AI Data Centres, new Hi Tech industries and all of the homes on the Fylde Coast. It will bring up to £15 Billion of investment into our area and up to 4000 skilled new jobs created in the area right up to the completion of commissioning, and higher paid long term jobs for the life of the power station, which has a design life of up to 100 years.

In addition to the AI Data Centres. This investment will encourage new green industries and opportunities in the area such as:

  • Medical Isotope Extraction
  • Hydrogen Production
  • Ammonia Production
  • Hydroponic Farming
  • District Heating Schemes

What Could a Community Energy Company Mean To You?

We do not presume to tell you what it means to you, that is why we will be engaging extensively with the local communities, local politicians, and businesses to understand what we need and want for the Fylde Coast Community. This will take the form of questionnaires, and open meetings with residents, local charities, council leaders, community leaders, local businesses, and education providers.

From this, we will feedback to the communities and produce a community charter to deliver the socio-economic benefits to the Fylde Coast residents.

We will form a Charitable Foundation, that holds Non-Dilutable Shares in the company for as long as it is in existence, which means significant amounts of money always stays in the area for the next 100 years for local social value projects.

We are also working with The Big Issue, who will independently measure our social value impact on the community.

What could this mean to our community?

  • Money from profits being fed back directly to the community
  • Cheaper energy bills for residents
  • Highly paid, long term career opportunities
  • Free electricity for local schools and/or community buildings
  • Community heating scheme
  • Pathways to higher education, with jobs based in the area
  • Long term programmes working with local charities to help tackle local issues such as substance abuse and homelessness
  • Ability to start new, or expand existing businesses, supplying to the project and the new power station(s)

The Project

Our two main drivers are to:

  1. Create a thriving local economy; and
  2. To improve the local living standards and environment.

To achieve this, we will develop the site into a Clean Energy and AI Data Centre Cluster, based on New Clean Energy Nuclear SMR units providing up to 1.2GW of electricity. We intend to acquire ex-industrial and brownfield sites and undertake significant infrastructure improvements to the local sea defenses, electricity supply infrastructure and site improvements, creating iconic architectural buildings housing the power stations that work sympathetically with the local environment sustaining local wildlife and can be enjoyed by the local community.

We will engage very closely with local businesses, communities and education providers to ensure that new skills are developed locally for the benefit of our community, and so that the local population is afforded every opportunity to benefit from high quality education and long term careers.

This will be a major construction project, which could take up to six years to complete, once permissions and licenses are granted.  We intend to work with local residents and environmental groups to ensure the impact is minimal during construction and the site will be returned to a net positive status on the local environment.

Also, our CEO and other key team members were born and raised on the Fylde Coast, and still live in the local area; so we take our corporate, environmental, safety, and local stakeholder responsibilities very seriously. We will not proceed if we believe any of these will be seriously compromised.

SMR – Clean Energy Technology

A Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is a compact nuclear power station that brings several benefits to a community. With advanced safety features, SMRs offer clean energy, reducing environmental impact. They create local jobs during construction and operation, fostering economic growth. SMRs contribute to energy independence, enhance infrastructure development, and attract investments for long-term economic stability.

Additionally, these reactors provide educational opportunities and innovative solutions, such as district heating schemes, benefitting the community while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

We will assess the available new nuclear SMR technologies that are currently going through the rigorous UK Government’s Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process, which is seen as the Gold Standard for technical and safety assessments on the global stage. In addition to this we will conduct our own assessment with our technical experts to ensure we select the right technology for our site and community.

This will be one of the following SMRs below:

Westinghouse AP300

Rolls Royce SMR

Hitachi BWRX300

What Community Power Can Deliver

New Nuclear SMRs not only provides clean, reliable and sustainable electrical energy to our AI Data Centres, but it can also supply additional heat and spare electrical capacity as illustrated
